ABS Requirement for FRP Conductive Tray
Enduro has developed a conductive, fiberglass material that meets new ABS requirements for non-metallic cable tray. The conductive cable tray includes constituents that prevent electrostatic discharges, which may pose potential safety concerns.
Electrical Properties
Non-metallic cable tray for vessels applying for ABS approval after January 1, 2007, must meet this standard as listed in ABS Rules for Building and Classing Steel Vessels, 4-8-4A1/9.1:
9.1 Resistivity Test
Cable Trays and protective casing passing through a hazardous area are to be electrically conductive.
The volume resistivity of the cable tray and protective casings and fittings are to be below 100 kΩ and the surface resistivity is to be below 1MΩ. The cable tray and protective casing are to be tested in accordance with IEC60093.
Enduro Approval & Testing
Enduro’s RT-Tray has been third party tested in accordance with IEC60093 and received ABS approval as a conductive tray.
United States Coast Guard (USCG) Compliance
Developed specifically for usage in occupied areas, Enduro’s low smoke, phenolic resin Channel Tray meets established requirements for Coast Guard inspected vessels in all spaces.
In accord with approval requirements for occupied areas, Enduro Channel Tray with low-smoke, non-toxic resin system has been tested per:
• U.S. Coast Guard Policy File Memorandum on the Use of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Gratings and Cable Trays (PFM 2-98)
• IMO Resolution A.653 (16), Recommendation on Improved Test Procedures for Surface Flammability of Bulkhead, Ceiling and Deck Finish Materials.
• IMO Resolution MSC.61 (67), Part 2, Annex 1, Smoke and Toxicity Test.
