Biological Filters

A Full Line of Biological Filters

Contact Enduro to help you decide which biofilter system best fits your odor control needs.

Enduro is pleased to introduce its full line of biological odor control systems. Just as Enduro offers a variety of different technologies for odor control (adsorbers and wet scrubbers), Enduro also offers a variety of biological systems to fit the needs of a variety of applications.

Each system is flexible in that a variety of medias (compost/wood chips, lava rock, synthetic plastic medias, and long life engineered media (Enduro's BioOdorSorb) can incorporated into its design, thus making unlimited combinations of systems and media.

The basic concept of biofiltration is to have odorous air flow through a media that supports biological active organisms. Organisms’ specific for the degradation of the specific odorous compounds accumulate on the media and multiply. Temperature, humidity, pH and nutrients are controlled to optimize the multiplication and effectiveness of these organisms.

There are different types of bacteria associated with specific odorous compounds.

Autotrophic Bacteria - An autotroph is an organism able to make its own food. Autotrophic organisms take inorganic substances into their bodies and transform them into organic nourishment. These bacteria are primary used in the treatment of hydrogen sulfide

Heterotrophic Bacteria - Heterotrophic cells must ingest biomass to obtain their energy and nutrition. Heterotrophic bacteria, therefore, are largely responsible for the process of organic matter decomposition. These bacteria are primary used in the treatment of organic odorous compounds.

Enduro believes that each project has specific criteria and limitations that must be taken into consideration in order to choose the most effective and efficient biological system. Factors such as capital costs, operational costs, maintenance requirements, irrigation or humidity (moisture) needs, specific compound treatment requirements, space, height, airflow, concentration of odors, and many others that effect the correct system selection.

Below are the classifications of biofiltration units supplied by Enduro:

  OdorDigest Packed Bed (ODPB)
Simple and economical biological filter using both heterotrophic and autotrophic bacteria
  OdorDigest BioScarbber
A combination system that combines a bioscrubber using autotrophic bacteria and carbon adsorption in the same vessel
  OdorDigest DuO
A revolutionary system utilizing both heterotrophic and autotrophic in separated zones in a unified vessel. No other system on market can beat the DuO's performance.
  OdorDigest Tower (ODT)
A simple bioscrubber using primary autotrophic bacteria for high level of hydrogen sulfide removal
